Episode Recap Day 6 11:00 pm - 12:00 am
Tonight’s episode of 24 revolved around Jack trying to get Audrey back from the Chinese. He is instructed by his former captor and torturer to steal a component from the Russian suitcase nukes that will give them access to all of Russian military technology. Can anyone tell me how this works? How is it that one little component will tell them everything about Russian weaponry? Wouldn’t they be smarter than to include that on their nuke? I guess that’s why they lost the Cold War. haha.
Anyway, Chloe once again does Jack’s bidding and goes against protocol trying to help him… Doesn’t see know by now that Jack always gets her into trouble. Shockingly, when she hacks onto Morris’ computer, steals the nuclear weapon diagnostics, and sends them over to Jack, it’s Chloe that gets to be angry at Morris for not trusting her. Of course she shouldn’t trust her, she’s sneaky and has loyalty to no one but Jack Bauer. When do you think it’s going to come into the plot that she’s actually in love with Jack because she’s always putting herself on the line for him. We almost saw that last season in the first few episodes when Chloe was escaping the conspirators trying to kill her, but that plot line hasn’t really developed since then.
Noah is still a conniving jerk. President Palmer convinces him to resign as Vice President because he has an incriminating recording of him and his assistant conspiring to commit perjury. But why did the president feel the need to incriminate Tom in this? Couldn’t he have been a bit more discreet. Now Tom’s in Noah’s crosshairs. Maybe it was the coma? And, no surprise, when giving an announcement to the American people that the crisis is over, he forgets the name of a reporter, starts babbling incoherently and passes out. Now Noah will ascend to the presidency. I loved the bad little look he had on his face as he tucked his letter of resignation under his jacket.
Anyway, as his first act as acting president, he calls off the operation to rescue Audrey. Jack acts predictably and commandeers his vehicle to continue the chase on his own. Next week, Jack goes rogue… again… like every other season… Can’t they think of something new? Like someone else being forced to go rogue and get away with it? Poor Jack. I’m glad to see that Audrey’s back, the ugly quotient has once again been slightly reduced.
