Janeane Garofalo Supporting WGA, Skipping 24

by Diana on November 7th, 2007

JaneaneGarofaloThat’s the rumour circulating around the internet today, that Janeane Garofalo, in support of the WGA strike is walking the picket lines rather than showing up for work on 24. Sources on set say this is limiting what they can shoot, since Garofalo’s character is so integral to the 7th season. While I’ve found no photographic evidence to prove that Garofalo is picketing, it wouldn’t surprise me considering her political and writing background. Television shows such as The Office, Back to You and The New Adventures of Old Christine, have all been forced to shut down production because key talent have refused to cross the picket line.

Additionally, sources say that “Company “memos” were sent out detailing what will occur if the strike is not resolved by the end of November/beginning of December. The first thing that will happen is that this upcoming season will be canceled..!!” This confirms the IGN story I posted yesterday. 24 has a very unique problem because the season can’t be split into segments, it has to air 24 episodes continuously. Therefore if the strike runs too long, episodes could be held for a later date, possibly as far as 2009.

GOOD FOR HER! I hope she walks out all together. Although I would NEVER boycott 24 (I have missed 1 episode in 6 years) I was EXTREMELY dissapointed to hear that she was joining the cast. There used to be a time when actors/actresses could put aside their personal lives to play a part, I mean hell, Tom Hanks isn’t gay, BUT NOT ANYMORE! Not Janeane. She’s one of those self righteous, A-Holes that has allowed her politics to ruin what was once a great career. I once adored her…then I saw the light

Guys, chill out. She’s an actor, and a good one at that. We know nothing about her character or whether she’ll be a good fit. I don’t think it’s appropriate to judge her based on her personal beliefs. Honestly, show some respect before I start deleting your comments.

Diana, bite me! Garofalo is a pathetic actress. She’s unconvincing and its easy for any intelligent person to see she hasn’t got a clue about acting.
No matter the character she plays, she would be terrible.
It’s an adults responsibility to judge people on every aspect… including personal beliefs. Go ahead, delete this… i don’t care. It’s clear your personal beliefs are the same as the nit wit Garofalo.
