Kiefer Sutherland Jail Update

by Diana on December 5th, 2007

KieferSutherlandAs I posted earlier, Kiefer Sutherland surrendered himself into the Glendale City Jail at 5:30pm last night. This was unexpected, as he was supposed to report to prison December 21st(his birthday). Apparently since filming has been delayed due to the writer’s strike, Kiefer decided to ask for a change of venue and start his time early. He was supposed serve his sentence at the LA Country Twin Towers(an institution known for its 23 hours of solitary confinement a day) but Kiefer’s lawyer appealed and got him a transfer to the Glendale City Jail.

According to TMZ, Kiefer’s “booking records show he is 5′10″, 150 lbs, blue eyes, blond hair, 40 years old.” He will wear the mandatory orange jumpsuit and spend his time performing laundry and kitchen duties.

Glendale Police Chief, Randy Adams, says that Sutherland won’t get any special treatment, “The fact that he’s a celebrity — he checked that at the door when he checked in.”

Kiefer will serve his 48 days consecutively, which means he won’t be leaving if he gets sick, unlike say Paris Hilton did.

I’ll update throughout the day with any additional information. For my previous post, featuring Kiefer’s mugshot, head here.

Good for Kiefer, I give him credit to do this over his b-day and the holidays so that if the strike does end he can get back to work as Jack. I have no problem with him drinking but I would say don’t drive afterward.

With multiple convictions for DUI offenses (and at least one parole violation), Sutherland shows all signs of being an alcoholic. Wealth and celebrity won’t help him over the long haul if he doesn’t soon get real with this very serious problem.

Right or wrong I love this guy and I agree… I think it shows a hell of a lot of character on his part to go early, serve his time and get it out of the way so it doesn’t interfere with taping. I wish him the best of luck and can’t wait for the new season to start!!!

I still love the guy and I give him props for not asking for special treatment and not behaving like a deva while in prison. He behaved accordingly during his prison sentence he genuinely feels bad for what he did Still though the guy clearly has a drinking problem. Heck I’d be an alcoholic to if I had to work 15 hours a day everyday for 10 months out of the year.
