24 Tops Critic’s Worst of 2007 Lists
So it won’t come as a surprise that 24 made lots of Worst of 2007 tv critic’s lists for Season 6. Here are just some of the Worst Of mentions,
Entertainment Weekly:
25 Things We Hates in 2007: Foreign characters speaking to each other in accented English, in lieu of subtitles. Shame on you, 24!
Gillian Flynn: 24 (Fox) The 2006 season — 24’s best — apparently tapped all the creativity needed to make 2007 any good. Instead, we suffered uncaptivating villains, more shivering from Audrey Raines (Kim Raver), and a robotic president (D.B. Woodside, pictured) who seemed to be reading from a user’s manual. (”Talk Like a Humanoid Leader in Four Easy Steps. Bip-bop.”) 24’s strength has never been dialogue, but wow, did every line just sit there, unemergency-like. End, world, end!
John Hein’s 2007 Jump the Shark: Coming off a stellar fifth season, 24 was a major disappointment right from the get go. Even Jack looked bored as he tracked down his evil dad, and I think CTU might have to close shop as this FOX drama needs to reinvent itself.
James Poniewozik’s Tuned In (Time):
24. Yes, I put this show on my All-TIME 100 TV shows list this year. No, season 6 of 24 did not make that decision easy. Being implausible and over-the-top is OK; recycling implausible and over-the-top scenarios from your first five seasons is not.
AOL’s TV Resolution’s of 2008:
Tags: 24, FOX‘24′ Your Mission: Don’t Suck - For five heart-pounding seasons, ‘24′ was a mirror image of its grizzled hero Jack Bauer: flawed for sure, but badass to the bone. But after a stellar start to Day 6 — Jack fails to stop a nuke from detonating in L.A. — ‘24′ devolved into a replay of seasons past, with a self-doubting Bauer limping through the motions. When Day 7 dawns, we want Jack back.
