With the New Hampshire primaries just a day away, Jean Smart has been out stumping for democratic candidate, John Edwards.

Smart also wrote this essay saying why she supports Edwards.

i’m just wondering why jean smart is spending so much time campaigning for john edwards (either candidates) is she a friend of the edwards?she has no showbiz commitment right now except awaiting for the return of that “Samantha who”tvs series should the writer strikes is over.she is one underrated actress and spending too much time with politics.gosh

It only goes to show, She is an actress lacking intelligence.

Edwards made his multi millions by using his law firm to sue unsuspecting hospitals for unproved birth defects, due to natural childbirths. Causing unneeded medical costs to skyrocket. Hospitals were so afraid of Edwards they elected to have the operation instead of natural birth. Even when not needed. Now, the little guy has a harder time affording medical insurance.

this is a follow up to what the writer named Peter commented that she is an actress lacking intelligence. and although i’m a jean smart fanatic i agree with Peter. She is just wasting her time campaigning for edwards (democtratic or republican or whatever who ever I dont care) and instead on focusing on her career. and look at her from a very pivotal role as Martha Logan in 24 Season 5 she now plays a mother to a 36 year old Christina Applegate (stupid of her to play mom) she said she has no choice but to accept that mom role

Stop insulting actor’s for their political beliefs. She’s a great actor, leave it at that. If you personally don’t like Edwards, go flame an Edwards board, not Jean Smart.

diana i did not say jean smart is lacking intelligence. it was an author named peter who sarcastically insulted jean smart. i’m wondering why she is spending time but now i know she is a friend of the edwards and thinking she is really patriotic and i just hate her appearing on Samantha who as Applegate mom. i admire jean smart so much and i saw and heard her speech in iowa on you tube and she is an eloquent speaker. to pity she is an underrated actress. my apology to jean smart

Hey, It is Jean who is asking for comments by taking her political liberalism to the public.

She wants you to vote for less money in your pocket. Yea, as if we can afford it. Jean makes more money than we do, it’s not her place to ask US to vote for someone who will raise our taxes. Her arrogance insults me.

oops oops peter you are definitely barking at the wrong person. i’m not a resident of the usa and i’m from asia. let me repeat i’m just wondering why jean smart is spending so much time campaigning (she is the only one doing it)probably because she has no project at the moment and she is a friend of the edwards. just leave her alone.

Look everyone…….
Jean Smart may be an actress, an excellant actress, she is human like we all are, she’s no different than anyone else. As for her job as an actress that is just what she does for a living, what she does in her personal life as what she’s doing for the Edwards is her business…… What law says that we have to believe what she says or anyone what says? None…… We do have freedom of speech & the right to do what we want in our lives & with our lives, so does Jean Smart…….. Just be Blessed to have what we have today & vote for who you believe in & what you believe in…… All Jean Smart did was state what & who she believed in. If you read her essay, she stated that she didn’t expect anyone to take her opinion, what that means is that it is up to you to if you want to hear her opinion or not, the choice is yours……. I just thank God that she’s a good human being & does care for others……….

i agree with you tonya.to peter and those who hate jean smart for campaigning for edwards JUST LEAVE HER ALONE! she is entitled to choose her own presidential candidate and campaign for him.period.
