24 Season 7 2009 Return Rumours

by Diana on February 11th, 2008

With the strike nearing its end, and show runners having returned to work today, production can officially start again this week, but 24 writer producer David Fury recently told eOnline’s Kristen Dos Santos when he thinks the show is going to return, “24 works best 24 hours in a row. I don’t think we’ll see it until 2009.”

E! is predicting, along with most major outlets that 24 won’t return until 2009, despite the fact that 8 episodes have been full produced, with 4 more mid way through production.   It seems like the creative brass behind the show really don’t want to break up any episodes.

This is ridiculous. Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t the first season (and in my opinion, the show’s BEST season) premiere sometime in the fall of 2001 and not January of 02?! People got hooked on the show anyway! And did the genius jan premiere and consecutive episodes help the declining ratings of season 6?! No! This is the network and everyone else in charge pissing on the show’s loyal fans. We’ll still be there but I hope they don’t expect the rest of the world to hold their breath for season 7. People have VERY short memories. The strike was 3 months! Don’t punish the fans for 12!

Why wouldn’t they just go ahead and air anyway? Why does a tv season have to end by May? Why not go into June? They would have no competition. Better than holding 8+ weeks of filming and work that won’t be aired for another year.

With 24 they can’t air 8 and then not air the rest, it would break the only original thing about the show. And no network is going to go into June if they can run consecutively through the regular season as June is lower ad rates because of summer.

no one is asking it to be broken. every year they only have about 12 episodes made when they put it out there. my guess is they just dont want it going into summer when viewing figures go down as eveyone goes outside.

if its delayed until 2009 then i will be very disapointed with fox and the production company

why couldn’t 24 be a fall show. It’s not like fox has anything else going for it… it would be easy to make space for another show in the fall lineup. All they have to do is move to another day of the week in the fall so they don’t compete with monday night football and they’re in the clear.

    Mark,

They won’t do that for a few reasons. One, they wouldn’t move 24 from the Monday slot. Two, by having it premiere in January, they avoid most of football, and with the combination of 24 and American Idol FOX is able to get #1 in the ratings which means a lot more to advertising rates than one hit show each quarter would. Plus, they’d run into a lot of holidays running it consecutively in September, which would lower their numbers considerably.

Please check out this post, which is the latest update on the scheduling of season 7:

Am i the only one that will miss CTU? Because that was where all of the backstabbing took place. Chloe was the queen of mischief and she was the best at keeping the in order.
So without CTU there really is no 24!!!!!
