She may not have made her first appearance on 24, but Cherry Jones continues to rack up the critical acclaim. Entertainment Weekly recently released their ‘50 Actors We’d Watch in Anything’ list, and Cherry Jones was right up there. Here’s what EW had to say, “her Broadway star has shined with Tony award-winning lead roles in Doubt and The Heiress, but this serious character actress brings it in small roles, too, like M. Night Shyamalan’s The Village and Signs. Plus, we’re happy to let her be our Commander in Chief, and next winter she’ll do just that, playing the first lady president on Fox’s 24.”
A few months ago I ran a poll on 24HQ asking you guys what new cast member you were most excited about and Jones won hands down. So there’s no doubt that her skills will be put to good use on 24 in the new year.

I can’t wait to see Cherry Jones. If I remember correctly Carly Pope was also fairly high on that poll. Do you know if she still has a recurring role on 24? Or has the subplot involving the president’s son been changed?
Diana,
Do you have a picture of Cherry Jones that you can post? I don’t know who she is. Thanks
Here is a great clip of Cherry Jones with her partner Sarah Paulson being interview for Velvetpark, during the Women’s Event 10 for the LGBT Ctr of NYC.

I hope that Cherry and the writers will take her role and turn it in to a wonderful drama milt down like Jean Smarts role!
I’ve uploaded a photo of Jones(sorry for the delay, there were tech issues with the image provider). She’s one of those actors you’ve no doubt seen dozens of times, but never remembered her face.
Mark, I suspect Jones will play her role just as well as Smart did with Martha. Both actresses are brilliant and capable of anything that gets thrown their way.
Debbie,
Pope is still involved with the show. Her character will play a part in the disappearance of the President’s son.
Thanks Diana. I was just looking at her IMDb page but it only shows Carly in one episode which obviously doesn’t seem right for a recurring role. Is it possible she might also be in the prequel? Can’t wait for 24 to start up again - thanks for all your hard work keeping the Headquarters up to date.
Sorry it took so long to respond. Thank you Diana, this is the only website I can look at mostly everyday and find new info! THANK YOU SO MUTCH!
