Season seven officially has its big bad. Up to this point the best candidates for the position were either Tony Almeida (the season 7 trailer made him look evil), and some African dictator responsible for genocide who was trying to make President Taylor his pawn. But of course on 24 nothing is as it seems. Jon Voight has been cast as the man responsible for season seven’s terrorist activities, the real bad guy. We don’t know much about his character, but he will make his first appearance in the prequel slated for November 23rd and then continue on in the seventh season. Voight knows how to play bad, so this shouldn’t be too much of a reach for him.

Does this convince people that Tony being the big bad was just one big fake out? Come on, you had to know that Jack’s heterosexual life partner wouldn’t really end up being evil, their guy love is too powerful for that.

    Ha ha, very funny.
But, who says Tony isn’t still the bad guy? As much as I love the guy, and even though I still hope it turns out to be a ruse and he is really a good guy, I want to see evil Tony played out for at least one story arc. I mean, we do see that he’s trying to make the planes collide in that trailer… that can’t be part of him pretending to be bad. So perhaps he’s working with Jon Voight, or Jon comes in later in the season. Either way, it seems Tony is still bad ass… just make it for half the season, and then for the second half they can heterosexual life partners again :-)

So, this means Tony is NOT a bad guy? Or just that he’s not the main bad guy?

I think we’re supposed to think that Tony is the bad guy, and he may be in the first half of the season. Do I think that Tony is ultimately evil? No.

Man, this is upsetting. I mean, we really shouldn’t know Tony is alive; nevertheless know that he might be the bad guy at the beginning of the season only to find out there’s another head-hancho. Agh. One thing I can’t stand about the guy is that he already looks the part of the typical white CEO that owns some huge business conspiring with the terrorists like Peter Kingsley, Max, Alexander Trepkos, Gene McLennan, Charles Logan, and Phillip Bauer. Oh well, I guess it’s better than the typical Muslim storyline.
