Katee Sackhoff, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd, Jennifer Westfeldt and Chris Diamantopoulos have joined the cast of 24 for the series’ eighth season. The Emmy Award-winning drama starring Kiefer Sutherland returns for its next astonishing day with a two-night, four-hour premiere beginning Sunday, Jan. 17 (9:00-11:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Season Eight will unfold in New York City amidst the shadows of the Statue of Liberty and the United Nations. In this new day, CTU has been upgraded and is run by MBA-schooled and razor-sharp head honcho Brian Hastings (Williamson, “Forrest Gump”). Cole Ortiz (Prinze Jr.), an ex-Marine who wants to follow in Jack Bauer’s (Sutherland) footsteps, runs the division’s Field Operations. Expert data analyst Dana Walsh (Sackhoff, “Battlestar Galactica”) collaborates with systems analyst Arlo Glass (Boyd, “The Notorious Bettie Page”) inside CTU. Rob Weiss (Diamantopoulos, “The Starter Wife”) serves as President Allison Taylor’s (Cherry Jones) new chief of staff, and Meredith Reed (Westfeldt, “Grey’s Anatomy”) is an ambitious journalist with ties to the unfolding situation.

I think you mean January 17th, 2010 for the air date…
Airs: January 17, 2009 ?
make that 2010 please..
I definitely can’t wait to watch this next year. I really love this show and always review the storylines and they make me believe how perfect it is. Lots of twists and lots of suspense. You track him inside the 24 hour period and realize that a person can save the US in split seconds! That person is a hero and is real; he is in my heart and am sure in yours too!
cannot wait for this. i have got all of 24 seasons and i thought they was not going to make anymore but when i found out that they were doing season 8 i was ecstatic. i hope they keep making 24. well done fox studios.
24 is the best show that has ever been on TV!!! Jack Bower character carries the whole show season after season. Please don’t ever let it end! It is so real and goes right along with the threats our country faces every day.
This little blurb at the top makes it seem like Jack won’t be out in the field. For someone who can get shot and be running two minutes later, I thought that this pesky bio weapon would be nothing for him!
I am from the old school and I like real men. Jack Bauer not only is srong and disciplined and has the inner strength to do the right thing. He also is very kind and “tender”. You have to give Keifer Sutherland credit for the show of emotions. Even his eyes seem to how what he is feeling. Is it possible? I have always liked him and also his father. Come on writers you have to keep this show going. It was because of Rush Limbaugh that I started watching this show. Now I have the DVD’s for the past seven seasons.
I find the role of Ortiz a bit disquieting (“to follow in Jack’s footsteps”). I wonder if it implies that Sutherland is easing away from playing Jack. To plug in Williamson and Prinze may not work. They’re both great actors, but moving 24 to the Apple and replacing Jack may indicate that this may be the last season. A shame, actually. The whimpering from the left about “jingoism” and “right wing fascism” is an annoyance, but it proves that somebody in entertainment knows how to give us PRO-American fare. Maybe there’s no room for a Jack Bauer in an Obama “humbler America”, but I translate that as meaning “groveling”, and America cannot afford to grovel before the neo-communism of Hugo Chavez or the street gang “who’s my beeyotch” mentality of the Taliban, Al Quaeda and the Ayatollahs.
Season 8. The writers strike delaying season 7 resulted in an unexpected benefit – it gave them time to fine tune the story line, add more depth to the parallel threads and ensured the pace and cliff hangers had us all salivating for more.
If season 8 is to be the finale, providing a continued hightened level of audience anticipation will be the biggest challenge. Seems there’s an insatiable desire to shock and hurt the views more at every frame, so wonder what new boundaries of unacceptable inhumanity they have in store.
New characters are always an unknown, but as we know people change. Tony Almeida’s part in season 7 shows just how much affect and confusion characters you think you already know can mislead you, so I hope the writers have brought back some of 24’s past goodies & badies, twisting and turning so we never know until the final frame…
Happy hunting & bring it on …
Is this in fact the last season of 24? If so, it will be sorely missed. To me it’s the best written and best acted show on TV. I always liked Kiefer Sutherland, but as Jack Bauer he shows incredible acting skills.
I hope they can manage to keep 24 with Sutherland going beyond Season 8.
Why cant people get it there are no EX-MARINES.
When do we get to see season 8 in new zealand
Will there be a rerun? I caught only the last 10 minutes.
Isn’t it great how comments about a television show (fake) get all serious and nut jobs get political? It’s more entertaining at least than anything I have seen on the tele since Family Guy.
so when is the next Episode coz there is only 1, 2 and 3rd will it be this month
Who played the assassin posing as a policeman and what did appear in before ?
Thank you, Keifer and 24 staffs, for giving us a TV show incomparable with the others. It seems that we can never get enough and would always anticipate that there will still be another season coming up even the present is still starting to be aired! Way to go, Keifer!
where can i get the sunday and monday two hour season premier
OK, so now we know Renee has totally lost it. Is she going to team up with Tony Almeida eventually?
