John Voight Loves Playing the Bad Guy
April 27, 2009 by Julie Bonner
John Voight is a series regular on “24” playing Jonas Hodges who’s definitely giving Jack Bauer a tough time. He told the Boston Herald that he loves playing the bad guy.
“People are telling me they don’t want this character to have his demise, and I don’t know what to say to them,” said Voight.
He went on to say, “I had occasion to meet him then at a charity event. I didn’t know him real well, but I went up to him and said, ‘This is going to be a wonderful thing for you, and I wish you the best with it.’ Then, when they asked if I would do this, I thought, ‘That’s interesting. That almost brings it full circle.’ The first day I started work on it, Kiefer showed up at my camper to welcome me, even though he wasn’t working that day. It was such a nice thing.”
You can watch Hodges and Bauer’s face to face on tonight’s episode.

Season 7 Gets Another Villain
Well, he may just be a henchman. Rory Cochran will join 24 playing an associate of Jonas Hodges. Hodges, played by Jon Voight, was previously announced to be season seven’s big bad, a character Voight described as “a witty fellow, sarcastic perhaps. He’s intimidating because he plays it light, but he’s got a sharp barb – his tongue can hurt you. He’s got a sense of humor, but boy, he’s dangerous.” No doubt if Rory Cochran’s character is running with Hodges, he’s bad news.
Cochran is best known to television audiences as Tim Speedle on CBS’ CSI Miami. His movie roles have included Dazed and Confused, Empire Records and A Scanner Darkly.
24 Exile Cast Photos

Fox released cast photo’s of 24: Exile this week in conjunction with the TCA press tour. To the right is Jack Bauer, rugged, handsome and determined. Click the thumbnails for full size photo’s of Gil Bellows and Jon Voight.
24: Exile is “set and shot on location in Africa, Bauer and mentor CARL BENTON (Robert Carlyle) battle an international crisis, while here at home the nation prepares for a new president on inauguration day. Taking place just a few months before the new day dawns, U.S. State Department officer FRANK TRAMELL (Gil Bellows) and JONAS HODGES (Jon Voight) are pulling the strings that will set the stage and raise the stakes for Season Seven.”
Jon Voight is a Badass
Last week Jon Voight was announced as 24’s big villain in season seven. While we have few details about his character, we know he’s the mastermind behind whatever terrorist attacks that occur throughout the day. For those of you unfamiliar with Voight, he has been acting steadily since the 1960’s, including appearances in such classics as Urban Cowboy and Deliverance.
But to see Voight in uber badass form, check out the clip below from the horror ‘classic’ Anaconda, where Voight’s evil Paul Sarone escapes capture by killing a ridiculously hot woman in cold blood.
The murder, in combination with his wickedly awful accent shows his true bad ass range.
All joking aside, Voight is a brilliant actor with a Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Coming Home, so I can’t wait to see what he’ll bring to 24.
