Geek Fight: Chloe vs. Janis

We know very little about Janeane Garofalo’s upcoming character, Janis Gold, other than that she’ll be part of a group of agent’s investigating a national security crisis.  Now comes news that she may end up sparing with Chloe O’Brian, who along with Bill Buchanan will be rogue aides to Jack.

As I looked at the season seven promo photo’s, I couldn’t help but wonder, who’d win in a fight?  Gold’s slightly nerdy glasses infer that she is tv ’smart’, and Garofalo’s eyebrow’s give a bad ass vibe but then there’s Chloe.  In the past she’s been known to yield a machine gun to awesome results but she has been domesticated and is shockingly cracking a smirk in her official photo.

So I think all bets are off.

If they were gonna throw down, whose side would you be on?

More Details on Jon Voight’s 24 Bad Guy

July 18, 2008 by Diana

We may have only seen a brief glimpse of him in the 24: Exile trailer leaked this week, but Jon Voight will definitely be a big pain in Jack Bauer’s ass on the upcoming season of 24. Voight spoke to reporters at this weeks TCA’s and told them that his character is “a witty fellow, sarcastic perhaps. He’s intimidating because he plays it light, but he’s got a sharp barb – his tongue can hurt you. He’s got a sense of humor, but boy, he’s dangerous.”

Voight will make his first appearance in 24: Exile, and will continue throughout season seven.

Garofalo Claims 24 Will ‘Start Up Again’ on April 22nd

March 27, 2008 by Diana

Season 7 newcomer Janeane Garofalo recently spoke to PunchlineMagazine about her 23 year(!) career as a stand up comic.  The reporter managed not to ask a single 24 related question, but Garofalo briefly mentioned the show while talking about when she’s going to fit in her upcoming stand up DVD. “It’ll be contingent on my 24 schedule. Because of the writers’ strike, we were off but we start up again April 22,” said Garofalo.

April 22nd….hmm.  Now normally this wouldn’t peak my curiosity, but all other reports have the show resuming production in June.  So what’s going on here?  Traditionally an actor wouldn’t return to a show until shooting and or/rehearsing were to begin, and Garofalo clearly said, ‘we start up again’, not ‘they start up again’ or ‘production starts up again.’  I’m going to assume she misspoke and pre-production is what’s starting up on April 22nd, for production to resume in June.

Either way, we’re getting closer to actually getting some real details about Season 7.  Are you guys as pumped as I am?

Janeane Garofalo Supporting WGA, Skipping 24

November 7, 2007 by Diana

JaneaneGarofaloThat’s the rumour circulating around the internet today, that Janeane Garofalo, in support of the WGA strike is walking the picket lines rather than showing up for work on 24. Sources on set say this is limiting what they can shoot, since Garofalo’s character is so integral to the 7th season. While I’ve found no photographic evidence to prove that Garofalo is picketing, it wouldn’t surprise me considering her political and writing background. Television shows such as The Office, Back to You and The New Adventures of Old Christine, have all been forced to shut down production because key talent have refused to cross the picket line.

Additionally, sources say that “Company “memos” were sent out detailing what will occur if the strike is not resolved by the end of November/beginning of December. The first thing that will happen is that this upcoming season will be canceled..!!” This confirms the IGN story I posted yesterday. 24 has a very unique problem because the season can’t be split into segments, it has to air 24 episodes continuously. Therefore if the strike runs too long, episodes could be held for a later date, possibly as far as 2009.
