“24’s” Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays Chloe O’Brian on the show, sat down with “The View from the Bay” to talk about everything from her time as a serious actress to the family/work balance.

At the beginning of the interview, Mary Lynn said that she knew she was supposed to be a comedian when she was trying to be serious on stage and people started laughing at her. The “24” star was actually a comedian before she became an actress.

“24” is a huge leap from comedy!

We know very little about Janeane Garofalo’s upcoming character, Janis Gold, other than that she’ll be part of a group of agent’s investigating a national security crisis.  Now comes news that she may end up sparing with Chloe O’Brian, who along with Bill Buchanan will be rogue aides to Jack.

As I looked at the season seven promo photo’s, I couldn’t help but wonder, who’d win in a fight?  Gold’s slightly nerdy glasses infer that she is tv ’smart’, and Garofalo’s eyebrow’s give a bad ass vibe but then there’s Chloe.  In the past she’s been known to yield a machine gun to awesome results but she has been domesticated and is shockingly cracking a smirk in her official photo.

So I think all bets are off.

Congratulations to Mary Lynn Rajskub and partner Matthew Rolph on their new arrival, Valentine Anthony.  Valentine weighed in at 9lbs and 5oz’s.

Rajskub made light of the late delivery (she was two weeks past her due date), by telling People Magazine that “It was like an episode of 24 with the clock ticking.”

Let’s hope kids in preschool call the kid Val, otherwise he may be in for some beat downs.

At least temporarily. Michael Ausiello is reporting that Mary Lynn Rajskub will be breaking from 24 mid season to have her baby, causing Chloe O’Brian to exit as well. Why will Chloe be leaving? (SPOILER WARNING) Apparently she departs because of an emergency with her now four year old son, Preston O’Brian.

But who’ll help save the world since Chloe’s busy, you ask? Well apparently Carlo Rota (Morris O’Brian) will be returning the show after all. Last month I reporter that Rota wasn’t sure if scheduling would work out with 24 this season, and apparently it has. Morris will sub for Chloe while she’s out dealing with their son’s emergency.

It surely can’t be that big of an emergency if Morris can still help at non-CTU.

What do you know when you’re a celebrity out to protect your unborn baby? You get a rifle and learn to shoot. At least that’s what Mary Lynn Rajskub’s done, all in the name of security.

Not ashamed to admit that that put a smile on my face.

DAMNIT. Korbi Ghosh from Zap2It has just broken my heart by breaking the news that Chloe will not appear in the 24 season 7 prequel at all. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

Ghosh also confirmed that Chloe won’t be pregnant when the show returns, but that’s not a shock to anyone who reads this blog, considering Chloe’s son Prescott will be between 3 and 4 when the show comes back in January. And considering most of Chloe’s scenes take place around a computer, it’s not hard to believe that the show will be able to hide Mary Lynn Rajskub’s real life bump entirely.

I really hope this doesn’t continue the trend set in season six with Chloe practically becoming an extra. The writer’s really lost focus of her character and either gave her absolutely nothing to do, or stuck her in the middle of the most absurd love story on Fox. Keep in mind that it’s the network that marries women off to millionaires, and pays uglies to have life altering plastic surgery.

What’s one of the benefits of a seriously long hiatus? The ability for an actor to appear in another TV show, just like Mary Lynn Rajskub has done with ABC Family’s new show The Middle Man. The show is adapted from a comic book of the same name and follows an average girl named Wendy who is “recruited by a secret agency to battle evil forces.”

Rajskub appears in the pilot episode playing Dr. Gibb, a scientist trying to create super monkeys to take over the world. I’m not even kidding with this guys. Actual super simians.

Being a celebrity sure has its benefits, one of them being sponsored baby showers. Mary Lynn Rajskub capitalized on her celeb status to get a free baby shower, hosted by BabyCenter. Rajskub posed with partner Matthew Rolph, 24 co-star James Morrison and a whole lot of cupcakes. Oh to be a celebrity…

Only in Hollywood would you see dozens of celebrities showing up for a glorified pet expo.  But that’s the case at The 7th Annual Nuts for Mutts Dog Show and Pet Fair, where not only MadTV personalities Nicole Sullivan and Debra Wilson will be hosting the event, but 24’s own Mary Lynn Rajskub will be a guest judge.  She’ll be joined by stars of Lost, American Idol and even the gem of CBS’ lineup, Two and a Half Men.

If you’re in the Woodland Hills area on June 1st, it might be a fun thing to check out.  I certainly wouldn’t turn down seeing some Best in Show antics live in person.

A few weeks ago I wrote about how Mary Lynn Rajskub was planning to turn her one woman comedy show, ‘The Complications of Purchasing a Poodle Pillow’ into a movie, but that’s not the only thing she’s got in the works.  Apparently Rajskub has also hired a videographer to follow her around during her pregnancy in order to document how it’s affecting her second job - as a stand up comic.  The videos will eventually make their way online as webisodes, where we don’t know, but I’m sure the moment they pop up, I’ll be posting them.

Rajskub has proven herself to be quite a quirky girl in the past, so I can only imagine what the webisodes will reveal.
