Pick Up a Copy of ‘The Tao of Jack Bauer’!!
March 15, 2009 by Nikki Katz
Have you heard of, or read, The Tao of Jack Bauer?
As the preeminent post-9/11 television thriller, 24 has addressed critical issues relating to striking the proper balance between maintaining our civil liberties and ensuring our national security. The show continues to have a profound impact on the way in which we view the world.
The Tao of Jack Bauer is an insightful study of Jack Bauer’s influence in society. What does Jack Bauer teach us about torture? Does 24 glorify torture or does the series take a more nuanced approach to the issue? How can we maintain our civil liberties in the age of terrorism? How can we best fight terrorists while maintaining our core values? Is Jack Bauer a lawbreaker or a lawmaker? How do we analyze the countless moral and ethical dilemmas presented on 24? What is the “Jack Bauer effect”? How do government agents make use of technology to fight terrorism?
The Tao of Jack Bauer tackles all of these issues and many more. The book also contains a fun quiz that measures how similar you are to Jack Bauer. So sit back, relax, and explore the world of 24 in a fresh, new light. As Jack Bauer would say: open the book “now, damn it!”
Author Steven Keslowitz is a Dean’s Distinguished Scholar at Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School and Executive Editor of the Cardozo Law Review. He is also the author of a variety books with their roots in television shows!

Happy Canada Day!
July 1, 2008 by Diana
While American’s are waiting until the 4th of July to crack out the fireworks, today is Canada Day. A national holiday, on a Tuesday…. Go ahead, shake your heads and say ‘Only in Canada.’

Happy 141st birthday Canada!
Kiefer Sutherland Knows How to Tip
During a break from shooting the season seven prequel in South Africa, Kiefer Sutherland and girlfriend Siobhan Bonnouvrier hit up some of Cape Town’s best restaurants. At one restaurant, their meal cost approximately $125 American, and they left a tip of nearly $40 bucks. I do believe that can be clarified as being highly generous. That’s like 30%, double the suggested tip rate of 15%.
Which brings me to this question, do you think celebrities such as Kiefer should tip dramatically higher than the average because a)they’re loaded, and b)they’re in the public eye?

Happy Birthday Mary Lynn Rajskub
24headquarters wishes to send a happy belated birthday to Mary Lynn Rajskub. Rajskub turned 37 yesterday, coincidentally on the same day that her ‘Julie & Julia‘ co-star Meryl Streep turned 49.

Janeane Garofalo to Play Banaroo
June 5, 2008 by Diana
Janeane Garofalo sure hasn’t let 24 make a dent in her comedy touring schedule. She’ll be playing the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester Tennesee, June 12-15th. Bonnaroo will also feature Chris Rock, Louis CK, Zach Galifianakis, and David Cross.
Fuse TV will television excerpts of the festival, the first time it’s made national television.
Kim Raver Wants You To Drink Safe
May 23, 2008 by Diana
Or rather, she wants you to buy Volvic water, so a portion of the proceeds go to charity. Kim Raver has been named spokesperson for the Drink1Give10 campaign, a Unicef effort working to provide Ethiopia with efficient water systems, wells and latrines.
Raver says she joined the cause because, “For me, access to safe drinking water is not just a
right - it is a necessity and we should all support UNICEF’s mission to raise
awareness for the staggering number of children who are deprived of this basic
need and help save lives.”
As scary as it sounds, every day thousands of Ethiopian children die because they don’t have access to sanitized water.
To support the campaign, check out their website Drink1Give10.
Jack Bauer’s One Hot Dad
March 18, 2008 by Diana
Come on, you were thinking it, admit it. BuddyTV just confirmed what we already knew by naming Jack Bauer #2 on their list of tv’s hottest dads. Their reasoning? “To understand why he’s also a hot dad, one only needs to look back to the first season, when Jack broke every law imaginable trying to save his wife and daughter from terrorists. He didn’t care about protocols or government codes of ethics, Jack Bauer did what he had to do to save his family.”
Yeah, he gets brownie points for saving Kim(or does he?), but he’s just as easy to break protocol and ethics in pursuit of the bad guy. That’s because he’s just that bad ass.
